Sharon football player suffers traumatic brain injury during Thanksgiving game

SHARON, Mass. (WLNE) – A high school sophomore is in the hospital after he suffered a traumatic brain injury during Sharon High School’s annual Thanksgiving game.

In a statement, Sharon Police said Rohan Shukla was transported to the hospital after an injury during a play, when he collapsed on the sidelines with a traumatic brain injury.

Shukla was first taken to Brockton Hospital, where he was later transported to Mass General Hospital.

“The trainer, coaches, and emergency personnel responded immediately, and the game was terminated,” the statement said.

“Our thoughts and prayers are going out to Rohan, his parents Abhishek and Deepika, and his twin brother Naman during this incredibly difficult time,” officials wrote.

School officials said they would be offering counselors to students.

A GoFundMe was shared to help the family as Shukla recovers, which raised over $25,000.
