Sharon teen killed in attack in Israel

A teenager from Massachusetts was killed in a terrorist attack in Jerusalem Thursday.

18-year-old Ezra Schwartz was killing during an attack by Palestinian extremists in the West Bank. The Israeli military said Schwartz, of Sharon, and two others, were killed by a Palestinian motorist who intentionally rammed his vehicle into a group of pedestrians.

Schwartz, who graduated from Maimonides School in Sharon this year, was studying in Israel. The school said Thursday in an emailed statement that the school community is "profoundly saddened" and mourns his death.

The attacks are part of a wave of violence that erupted in mid-September over tensions surrounding a Jerusalem holy site sacred to both Jews and Muslims.
