NEW BEDFORD, Mass. (WLNE) – Fire crews responded to a shed fire at Lawrence’s Greenhouses this morning.

Officials received multiple calls for a reported structure fire on Hathaway Road. Upon arriving to the scene, a shed was fully engulfed in flames. The flames were threatening a nearby home and solar panels.

The shed contained a large amount of cardboard and two 50lb propane cylinders.

Crews were able to put out the fire and protect the nearby home from any damage.

While cleanup the scene, officials found that multiple lithium-ion battery powered equipment had burned and the fire damaged batteries requiring more attention to prevent another fire from possibly igniting.

The Battery Response Trailer was transported to the scene and hazmat members were able to properly dispose of the batteries.

New Bedford Fire Investigation Unit is still looking into the cause and origin of the fire, but it has been determined to be of accidental nature. No one was reported injured in the fire.
