Shelter-in-place at Uxbridge school after person dressed as Jason Voorhees seen

UXBRIDGE, Mass. (WLNE) — A person dressed as a movie serial killer was arrested Friday after prompting an elementary school to shelter in place in Uxbridge, Massachusetts, WCVB reports.

Uxbridge police said a Taft Early Learning Center School member alerted the school’s SRO about someone walking on school grounds wearing a leather jacket with a large number of pins and a full-face covering Halloween mask around 11 a.m.

Police said the mask “resembled that of a well know film serial killer,” which Uxbridge Public Schools Superintendent Mike Baldassarre confirmed to WCVB to be Jason Voorhees from the “Friday the 13th” film series.

Uxbridge police said that multiple students were outside for recess when the call came in.

School staff then sheltered-in -place and multiple officers were dispatched and arrested the person on Capron Street a few minutes after the call.

The individual will be charged with disruption of a school assembly and disturbing the peace, police said.

A no-trespass order was also been issued against the individual. Their name was not released.

Uxbridge police said they believe this was an isolated incident and there is no threat to the community.
