Shooting in New Bedford leaves man seriously injured

NEW BEDFORD, Mass. (WLNE) — New Bedford police were called to two separate shooting incidents Wednesday night into Thursday morning, one of which left a man seriously hurt.

Officers followed a ShotSpotter activation in the area of Cedar and Parker streets around 10:30 p.m. and found shell casings on the ground.

Police reportedly saw a vehicle and a house damaged with bullet holes.

Later on, officers were called for a shooting around 2 a.m. in the north end of the city.

Police said a man suffered a gunshot wound, most likely stemming from a domestic disturbance.

The department arrested a woman and seized a lawfully-owned gun.

The man was rushed to a nearby hospital where he remained in critical condition.
