Shot fired inside middle school, gun found in bathroom

NEW LONDON, Conn. (AP) _ New London police are investigating after someone fired a handgun inside a middle school and left it in a bathroom.
Police say they received a report Wednesday afternoon of a weapon found in a bathroom at Bennie Dover Jackson Middle School.
Police were able to determine that the handgun had discharged a shot inside the school.
All of the students were moved to a secure location as officers searched the building. No other weapons were found. There were no reports of any injuries.
The investigation is ongoing.
