Showers and Storms Threaten Friday

At first glance, Friday starts out with clear skies full of haze and temperatures 10 degrees warmer than average, much like we have done this week. Today we will see a few key changes. First, it will be cooler- not my much- but marginally with highs in the upper-80s inland and 80 at the beaches. Secondly, we have a front that will bring clouds and energy to Southern New England and starting this afternoon. We will have a front stall in northern New England that will provide enough energy to generate showers and thunderstorms each afternoon and evening starting today through Monday. Any thunderstorms we see will have the chance of making downpours that could lead to localized flooding or even flash flooding in addition to dropping visibilities. As we lose the light of the day, storms should weaken and dissipate tonight. Looking to the weekend, the same unsettled weather Friday will repeat through Monday as the front stalls across the region. Each day will be warm in the 80s and muggy with the chance of showers and thunderstorms popping up in the afternoon and evening. Sunshine returns with high pressure by the middle of next week.
