PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) – An ordinance to ban plastic bags in Providence heads to the mayor’s desk.
Last night the city council passed the “retail plastic bag reduction act”.
The ordinance requires all checkout bags to be re-usable or made with paper.
Businesses would have six months to change over and use up their existing stock.
