Six displaced after 2nd alarm fire in Providence

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) – Six people are displaced after a fire gutted the first floor of a multi-family house early Sunday morning.
The Providence Fire Department responded to a wood-frame residence on Lester Street around midnight Sunday morning with reports of a fire.
The fire was quickly deemed a second alarm. Responders worked for about an hour, and the fire was knocked down around 1 a.m. Sunday.
According to the Division Chief, the fire and extinguishing process caused significant damage to the first floor of the building. As a result, six people have been displaced by the fire.
Officials say one firefighter was treated for non-life-threatening burns incurred while battling the fire.
None of the building’s occupants were injured.
The fire is currently under investigation.
