Smiley announces prescription drug ‘Take-Back Day’ at public safety complex
PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — Providence Mayor Brett P. Smiley announced an event to help residents dispose of expired or unused medication as part of National Prescription Drug Take-Back Day.
The event will take place at the Providence Public Safety Complex on Saturday from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. in conjunction with the city’s Housing and Human Services department.
This event is meant to help curb accidental poisonings and overdoses related to these drugs, and residents can dispose of unused or expired drugs at the safety complex at any time.
“Expanding access to harm reduction services and addressing disparities in behavioral health care demands a collaborative, multi-pronged approach,” said Mayor Smiley.
“I encourage everyone to safely dispose of unused medications to help keep our families and loved ones safe.”
