Smiley, officials unveil newly revamped PVD311 website
PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — The City of Providence announced the launch of the new PVD311 website Tuesday alongside Director of the Mayor’s Center for City Services Norelys Consuegra and city residents.
“Providence is setting a new standard for how cities can connect with their communities,” explained Consuegra.
The website is a revamped version of the existing site used by Providence residents to access city services and communicate with Providence City Hall.
This is the first upgrade to the website since 2016, and the new site is the product of months of feedback and engagement from Providence community members, according to the city.
“In my first budget we prioritized this upgrade,” said Mayor Brett Smiley. “The city council saw fit to fund it and got to work to implement a best in-class 311 system.”
The website will also improve inter-departmental communication with the aim of providing more efficient and timely service to Providence residents.
“When you submit a request for a pothole to be filled it automatically goes directly to the department of public works and finds its way onto a work order ticket for the folks who are out filling potholes that day,” explained Smiley.
Among the enhancements the new site offers are new resource tools, real-time updates and direct text notifications to residents.
The city said on average it gets about 14,000 requests a year and most of them are DPW related.
More recent requests will be transferred to the new system.
The city will host a series of trainings at Providence libraries to help residents learn the ins and outs of the new website.
These trainings will be held at the following libraries and times:
- Olneyville Library: March 12th, 6 to 7:30 p.m.
- Rochambeau Library: March 14th, 3 to 5 p.m.
