Smithfield Falls to Tennessee at Little League World Series

SOUTH WILLIAMSPORT, Penn. (WLNE) — The Smithfield Little League team falling to Tennessee at the Little League World Series Friday, 8-1, in its second game of the tournament.

The Southeast representatives from Nolensville, TN scoring three runs in the top of the first and never looking back.

The Metro Region champs from Rhode Island cut into the deficit in the fourth inning, but Tennessee escaping a bases-loaded jam with a double play.

Smithfield now drops to the elimination bracket and will next play on Sunday at 11:00 A.M. against the winner of the New England & Mid-Atlantic matchup.
