Smithfield police investigate claim that gemstones and jewelry were stolen from vehicle

SMITHFIELD, R.I. (WLNE) — Smithfield police are investigating a reported larceny of gemstones and jewelry at The Crossings.

Police said someone claimed an undetermined amount of gemstones and jewelry was taken from their vehicle, which was parked at Dave’s Marketplace.

The call for the alleged larceny came in at about 4:30 p.m. Wednesday.

The investigation into the incident is ongoing. No further details were immediately released.
