Smithfield police seize drugs, cash in early-morning raid at motel

SMITHFIELD, R.I. (WLNE) — The Smithfield Police Department announced that a Rhode Island man is facing charges after he was caught allegedly dealing drugs from a local motel on Monday.

According to police, 59-year-old Michael Robinson with felony possession with intent to deliver and three counts of possession of under 10 grams of a schedule-four substance.

Officials said that at approximately 6:54 a.m., police executed a search warrant on a room at the Alpine Motel, where they found Robinson along with 51 grams of powdered cocaine, eight grams of crack cocaine, amphetamine pills, a bottle of anabolic steroids and approximately $1,308 in cash.

Robinson was arraigned in Third Division District Court shortly after his arrest.
