Snow creates slick roads across Southern New England
PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — Roads were slick on Tuesday after overnight snow covered Southern New England.
Snow continued to fall into the early morning, creating a slippery commute.
ABC 6’s Cecy Del Carmen reports that light to moderate snow fell across the Ocean State, with some areas seeing over three inches.
The snow will change into freezing precipitation. Washington County was the first to see some rain.
The precipitation will cause ice accretion — which is when ice builds up on solid objects that are exposed to freezing precipitation.
Drivers were advised to allow themselves plenty of travel time.

Officials like Gov. Dan McKee said on social media to reduce speed and give snow plows plenty of room, and never attempt to pass them.
Drivers were urged to stay alert, especially those driving on unpaved roads, which are likely to turn icy.
The weather caused school delays across the region.
Many school districts, like Providence, canceled all afterschool activities and athletic events.
A full list of closures, delays, and parking bans can be found on the ABC 6 News website.
