SOMERSET, Mass. (WLNE) — The Somerset Police Department said three juveniles were arrested after a man said he was attacked and threatened at Pierce Beach Park.

One 17-year-old and two 16-year-olds are being charged with assault and battery at the Juvenile Court.

One suspect will also face assault with a dangerous weapon (firearm).

On June 23, a 20-year-old man reported to police just before 7 p.m. that he was attacked by three unknown males and then threatened with a firearm at Pierce Beach Park.

Officers responded and interviewed the victim, who said he had planned to meet someone when he was assaulted “unexpectedly.”

He told police he was sitting on his motorcycle when the three suspects walked over and “suddenly grabbed his arms and began pushing and pulling him,” attempting to get him off his street bike, Somerset police said.

Police said the victim told the suspects he did not want any problems or to fight, which resulted in the suspects allegedly threatening to shoot the victim with a gun.

When one the males reached in his backpack, the victim fled on his bike and called police.

During the interview, detectives responded to the beach to search for the three suspects.

During the search, a backpack that appeared to be the one described by the victim was found near a playground, and was seized by police.

Inside the backpack, police allege they found an airsoft pellet pistol “designed to look and feel identical to a Glock 19X semiautomatic 9MM pistol.”

The victim was brought to the park and was able to identify the three suspects who were still at the beach.

The suspects’ names and information cannot be released since they are under the age of 18.
