Somerset police arrest man who stole from family of child with leukemia

SOMERSET, Mass. (WLNE)- Garret Turner, 36, of Kingston, Massachusetts was arraigned in Fall River for breaking and entering, and larceny over $1,200.
Catherine Placido, mother of Alex Rogers who is battling leukemia, notified police on January 27 that her wallet containing $700 in donated gift cards, credit cards, and $200 in cash had been stolen out of her car.
There were also two fraudulent charges amounting $300 on her stolen credit cards.
Police say Turner has a record of similar crimes in the area.
Turner is charged with breaking & entering into a motor vehicle with intent to commit a felony, larceny over $1,200 and conspiracy.
Somerset Police Chief Todd Costa commented on the investigation saying, “This arrest is extremely satisfying considering the circumstances surrounding the victim and her family. I appreciate Detective Cormier’s hard work to bring this case to a successful conclusion.”
