SOMERSET, Mass. (WLNE) – A Dartmouth man was arrested Wednesday and charged with robbing a Somerset bank earlier this month.
Following a two-week investigation, Somerset Police arrested 31-year-old Thomas Rodrigues Jr. in connection with a robbery at St. Michael’s Federal Credit Union on July 5.
According to Police, Rodrigues entered the bank on County Street just after noon and demanded money from the teller. He fled the scene in a Cadillac sedan with an undisclosed amount of cash.
Police said he was not armed.
“This was great work by our detective unit who were able to gather evidence at the scene that led to the identification of Mr. Rodrigues as a suspect,” said Somerset Police Chief George McNeil. “Thankfully no one was hurt during the incident and we were able to quickly bring this case to a close.”
Rodrigues will be arraigned Thursday on one count of Unarmed Robbery.
Police said he was previously convicted of robbing a Fall River bank in 2011.
