BOSTON, Mass. (WLNE) — WCVB has reported that a 35-year-old man is facing larceny charges, after he allegedly stole over $13,000 in casino chips.

ABC 6 has confirmed with multiple sources from the city that Gary Hunt, the son of the former Mayor of Woonsocket, Lisa Baldelli-Hunt was the man charged.

Baldelli-Hunt resigned from her position back in November, and has since been under scrutiny for a $1.1 million secret land deal.

WCVB reported that Massachusetts State Police said Encore Boston Harbor Casino had called Tuesday about a patron had stolen a significant amount of chips from a table game and fled the scene.

Witnesses told police told the man had been sitting at a table but was not playing any games and frequently got up to use his phone.

Witnesses further stated a distraction by claiming another patron had won a large sum.

According to police, during the distraction, the suspect grabbed 13 orange $1,000 chips from the dealer’s tray and escaped through an emergency exit.

State and local police located the man matching the description in a parking lot near Encore Boston Harbor.

Security footage showed Hunt discarding some of the chips while fleeing the casino.

Hunt was booked and charged with larceny over $1,200 and larceny from a building at the Medford State Police Barracks.
