Boy heading to Super Nintendo World in California for Make-A-Wish

SOUTH EASTON, Mass. (WLNE) — A South Easton boy with a rare form of cancer’s Make-A-Wish request was granted on Sunday.
The Learning Experience of South Easton and Make-A-Wish Massachusetts and Rhode Island hosted a send off event for 9-year-old Luke and his family, who will be going to Super Nintendo World at Universal Studios Hollywood.
Co-Vice Chair for Make-A-Wish’s East Coast Committee Meg Johnson said that Luke has a form of leukemia that is in the “maintenance phase.”
“We want to be able to provide his family with an opportunity outside of a hospital,” she said.

The Learning Experience Regional Manager Shannon Doherty said that the organizations had been planning the event and trip for months.
“We are looking forward to surprising him and giving him a day of fun and wonderful memories for both him and his family,” she said.
The Learning Experience had previously held fundraisers to help grant the wish.

Luke and his family, including his five siblings, will be going to the theme park in November.
The event featured a a video game truck and a cookie-decorating contest as well as preschoolers, parents, and families to see Luke off.
When he arrived, Luke told the crowd that the event, and the surprise trip, where “awesome.”
