South Kingstown man arrested for allegedly murdering wife

SOUTH KINGSTOWN, R.I. (WLNE) — The South Kingstown Police Department said that a 62-year-old man from town was arrested for allegedly killing his wife.

Keith Johnson was charged with first-degree murder and assault with a dangerous weapon.

The department said that it responded to a call around 9 a.m. from a resident who saw a man cut through their yard.

Officers saw a man on Church Street who matched the description of the suspicious individual, who brandished knives at them when they approached.

The officers followed the Johnson and eventually tased him.

Officers then learned that an unresponsive woman, 59-year-old Gina Johnson, was found at Johnson’s home.
