South Kingstown police officer taken to hospital after crash

SOUTH KINGSTOWN, R.I. (WLNE) — The South Kingstown Police Department said that an officer was involved in a crash at the intersection of Routes 1 and 138 Thursday.

The crash occurred around 1 p.m. as the officer was driving to respond to an emergency call.

The department said the officer was driving eastbound and was struck by a vehicle driving southbound.

The officer and two other individuals were transported to the hospital for reports of pain.

Police are investigating the incident.
