Southcoast Rail construction expected to cause traffic in New Bedford

NEW BEDFORD, Mass (WLNE) — A project to bring the MBTA Commuter Rail to New Bedford will cause some traffic this week.

Starting Tuesday, Route 18 will be closed so crews can do work related to a pedestrian bridge.

The bridge will cross JFK Boulevard to allow for pedestrians to reach the commuter rail.
