Special effects show based off water takes over Fort Adams
3D holograms, fire works and live entertainment will be taking over Fort Adams in Newport Friday. It's all part of the Aqua Edm experience, featuring a new technology created by 23-year-old Rhode Island native, Pat Brown.
"So we layer sheets of water with fountains of mist and use lights, lasers and projections to create these like water holograms that float around artists during shows,"Explains Brown.
Brown a recent University of Rhode Island graduate helped plan festivals in college. He says many times he had to cancel fireworks at the last minute because of rain. This gave him the idea to create a show that couldn't be rained out, because water is needed for it to happen.
Brown says, "we started googling like cool water effects and then we would find them. We would go to home depot and figure out how to build them. We basically combined them all together, made a lot of mistakes, but figured it out."
Brown says he's not only doing what he loves, he is also giving back a portion of the money to provide water to people in third world countries. They are partnering with a non-profit organization called Water Is Life, and every ticket sold will donate 36.5 days of clean water.
The show in Fort Adams alone will donate about 5 years of clean water to an entire village in Ghana. Another portion of the ticket sales will go towards the Fort Adams trust.
