PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — The General Assembly approved a bill Thursday which creates a special license plate for veterans of the armed force.

Now the DMV can make special plates available that indicate the owner of the vehicle owns a U.S. Bronze Star Medal.

To get the plates you must pay a registration fee and $5 charge for a transfer plate.

The bill will now go to the governor for further consideration.
