PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) – Some parts of Providence have a new way of getting drivers to slow down.
Crews began installing a series of “speed lumps” around the city Thursday as part of Providence Infrastructure Week.
“The implementation of these traffic calming measures aligns with our great streets initiative,” said Providence Mayor Jorge Elorza, “Which seeks to make every street in Providence safe, clean, healthy, inclusive and vibrant.”
In total, crews will put in 26 permanent and 45 temporary speed lumps.
They’ll be working on them through the end of the summer.
