Squirrel causes 6,500 Woonsocket customers to lose power

National Grid restores power to 6,500 Woonsocket customers who experienced power outages Monday night. 

National Grid tells ABC 6 at 10:00 p.m. on August 3rd 6,500 customers regained power after a squirrel came in contact with the power line equipment overhead causing the outage at 7:43 p.m. 

They say 1,500 customers were restored at first and extra crews worked to restore the remaining effected. 

Landmark Medical Center was one of the customers who lost power. After the outage occurred they worked on back up generators. 

Police say transponders blew through out the city
