Son accused of stabbing father in the throat in North Providence, held without bail
NORTH PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — North Providence police said a son stabbed his father in the throat Monday afternoon.
Dayne Kerzner, 36, was seen in Kent County Court on Tuesday, after being charged with felony assault.
Kerzner was issued a no contact order and was held without bail.
Police responded to Whipple Avenue just before 4 p.m. for a report of a stabbing.
When officers arrived, Col. Alfredo Ruggiero Jr. said they found a 65-year-old Steven Kerzner suffering from a stab wound to his throat and blunt force trauma to his head.
Officers also found 60-year-old Linda Rotella, who’s the girlfriend of Kerzner, suffering from a head laceration, police said.
It wasn’t immediately known what led up to the stabbing.
