Standoff in Charlestown resolved peacefully after roughly 2 hours

CHARLESTOWN, R.I. (WLNE) — A standoff between a man and multiple police agencies in Charleston Tuesday ended peacefully after nearly two hour of negotiating.
According to Lieutenant Kevin Kidd with the Charlestown Police Department, officers were dispatched to 4329 South County Trail for a person inside the home with a gun making threats.
Lt. Kidd said a man, who police believe is the homeowner, was removed from the house after nearly two hours of negotiations.

The man, who was not immediately identified, was taken to an area hospital for evaluation.
Traffic on South County Trail was stopped while the scene was active but has since returned to normal.
No injuries were reported from the incident.
The incident remains under investigation and no further information was immediately released.
