State Department issues alert for LGBTQ community
PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — The U.S. State Department has issued a global security alert about potential terror attacks against the LGBTQ+ community.
Officials have advised citizens overseas to be extra cautious about potentials threats ahead of pride month, which is just two weeks away.
“Foreign terrorist organizations or supporters may seek to exploit increased gatherings associated with the upcoming June 2024 Pride Month,” the alert said.
The FBI and the Department of Homeland Security also issues a similar warning earlier this week.
