State officials to welcome home soldiers from Kosovo

WARWICK, R.I. (WLNE) — Governor Dan McKee and Senator Jack Reed will welcome home over 80 soldiers from the Rhode Island National Guard Saturday.

State officials will participate in the homecoming of the C/1-143rd Infantry (Airborne) and the 110th Public Affairs Detachment and soldiers of the 1st Battalion, 126th Aviation Regiment today.

The airports in which will be welcoming our soldiers home are T.F. Green Airport as well as Quonset Air National Guard Base.

The 10-month deployment supporting peace keeping operations was a part of a NATO-led peacekeeping force, known as the Kosovo Force.

Sen. Reed will greet soldiers as they deplane and head to the RI National Guard’s Airport Road armory to reunite with their families, friends, and loved ones.
