State Police: 22-year-old woman hit, killed on Route 93

MEDFORD, Mass. (WLNE)- A 22-year-old woman died after being hit by a car on Route 93 early Sunday morning.

Massachusetts State Police said the incident happened just after midnight on Sunday.  State police received a report of a body in the road on Route 93 north, just before exit 32 in Medford.

Troopers arrived and found a 22-year-old woman who was pronounced dead at the scene.

State police said an initial investigation showed the victim was a passenger in a friends car that was driving on the highway. State police believe the victim left the car, and was hit and killed by another car or cars.

Massachusetts State Police said the reason as to why the victim exited the friend’s car remains under investigation.
