State Police arrest 21 people on various drug charges

Twenty one people have been charged with various drug offenses as part of a six month investigation led by the Rhode Island State Police High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area Task Force.

The investigation resulted in the seizure of 1,382 grams of cocaine, 160 grams of crack cocaine, 195 grams of heroin , 10 oxycontin pills .

Juan Rivera, 50, of Providence, faces the most charges as a result of the investigation. He is charged with 22 counts of Controlled Substance Conspiracy, 27 counts of Possession with intent to Deliver a Controlled Substance, 4 counts of Manufacture/ Possess/ Deliver Cocaine 1 oz. to 1 kg. and 3 counts of Manufacture/ Possess/ Deliver Heroin 1 oz. to 1 kg.

The arrests are the result of purchases made by undercover officers within the last six months.

The investigation included Providence Police, the Cranston Police, the Drug Enforcement Administration, the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms, Homeland Security Investigations and the Federal Bureau of Investigation.
