State Police arrest Cranston man at daycare on drug charges

CRANSTON, R.I. (WLNE) — Rhode Island State Police said that a Cranston man was arrested at a residence operating as a daycare as part of a HIDTA Task Force investigation on Aug. 7.
31-year-old Aaron Cabreja was charged with possession with the intent to deliver over 1 ounce of a Schedule II controlled substance – fentanyl, possession with the intent to deliver a Schedule II controlled substance – fentanyl, possession with the intent to deliver a Schedule II controlled substance – crack cocaine, distribution of a controlled substance in a school zone, and possession of a firearm while committing a controlled substance violation.
Cabreja was arrested at the Promenade Kids daycare facility on Western Promenade, where police said he was residing with the daughter of the facility’s owner.
Police alleged that during a search of the residence they found 55 grams of fentanyl, 10 grams of crack cocaine from inside the residence, and one fully loaded 9mm semi-automatic Smith & Wesson in the suspect’s vehicle.
No children where at the facility at the time of the arrest, and the Rhode Island Department of Human Resources was made aware of the arrest.
