State Police arrest fugitive wanted for violent charges in Louisiana

WOONSOCKET, R.I. (WLNE) – Rhode Island State Police arrested a man Friday morning who is wanted for violent crimes committed in Louisiana.

State Police arrested James A. Santos, 37, at approximately 10:30 a.m. Friday, in connection to an incident in Louisiana. Officials made the arrest at an apartment in Woonsocket.

Santos is wanted for crimes connected to an incident that occurred on July 20 in Shreveport, La.

The crime in question involved a victim who was allegedly robbed at gun point and tied up with duct tape by two suspects. According to State Police, Santos allegedly chased down the victim after the victim freed himself from the duct tape restraint. Santos also allegedly shot at the victim five times, hitting the victim in the head with one of the bullets.

Santos was arraigned in court on Friday morning and ordered held without bail pending his return to Louisiana.
