State police awaiting RI Capitol Police recruit’s cause of death

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — The name of a Rhode Island Capitol Police recruit who died on Christmas day has been released by Rhode Island State Police (RISP).

27-year-old Kyron Lopes of Providence was hospitalized after a December 23 training exercise, according to RISP.

Lopes died two days later, and RISP said they are waiting to learn the cause of his death from the medical examiner.
