State police bomb squad says no danger to public after report of ‘military ordnance’ at home
BLACKSTONE, Mass. (WLNE) — The Blackstone Police Department said that an investigation alongside the Massachusetts State Police Bomb Squad for reported military ordnance at a home found no danger to the public.
Chief Gregory Gilmore said police and firefighters responded to a home on Dawn Street around 10:30 a.m. after receiving a report of the military ordnance possibly being there.
The State Fire Marshal’s Office and the bomb squad were immediately notified and after an investigation found that most of the ordnances, which were military-grade training materials, were inert.
Gilmore added that a small amount, including flares, were not inert and had to be removed from the home. They were taken to a secluded area and destroyed.
The bomb squad is also taking possession of the inert materials. which will be returned to the military.
