UPDATE: Victim identified in fatal car crash in Attleboro

ATTLEBORO, MASS (WLNE) – A crash that occurred on Friday night in Attleboro resulted in the death of a 22-year-old: Police currently investigating.
Police identify the victim as Pawtucket Resident, Erica Hopkins, who was a student at the University of Rhode Island.
The Department says the crash happened at 11:00 p.m on Route 95.
According to the department, a preliminary investigation suggests a 24-year-old Pawtucket man, was traveling on Route 95 South near Exit 2 in a 2009 Volvo C70, with Hopkins who was in the passenger’s seat.
He lost control of the vehicle, causing it to crash in the roadway, coming to rest on the left and middle travel lanes.
Police say the operator and Hopkins ended up outside of the vehicle after the initial crash.
After that, police say a 2011 BMW 328xi, operated by a 17-year-old was traveling southbound around this time and struck the stationary Volvo.
Hopkins and the male operator, standing outside, were then also struck.
Police say it is unclear if they were struck by the BMW or their own vehicle.
Hopkins and the male operator of the Volvo were transported to Rhode Island Hospital for treatment of serious injuries.
Hopkins was pronounced deceased on Saturday.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation at this time.
