One dead after officer-involved shooting in Pawtucket

State Police are investigating after a Pawtucket Police officer fatally shot someone on Webster St.
According to police, it was at approximately 5:40 p.m. Thursday when officers responded to the area of Kenyon Ave to investigate a possible crime.
During this incident, Officer Julianne Borsari encountered one of the involved parties, later identified as Dominique Silva.
Officer Borsari was in uniform in a marked police vehicle when she approached Silva for investigation. Silva pointed a weapon at Borsari and fled on foot. Officer Borsari pursued Silva and during this foot pursuit, Silva pointed a weapon at Borsari again. Borsari discharged her weapon striking Silva.
Police say 25-year-old Silva was taken to the hospital where he died.
State Police were called to the scene to investigate. The Attorney General’s Office is assisting in the investigation as well.
A source tells ABC6 the man had some type of gun in his possession. It is unclear if the gun was real or fake.
According to the source, the female officer involved in the shooting is a marine and war veteran. She has been place on paid leave during the investigation.
Witnesses tell ABC6 they heard 8 shots and then saw a body laying face down, then taken away in an ambulance.
