State Police investigate school bus crash in West Greenwich

WEST GREENWICH, R.I. (WLNE) — Rhode Island State Police (RISP) responded Monday to a crash on Route 95 North in West Greenwich that involved a school bus occupied by 41 members of the West Warwick High School Co-Ed Track Team.

Troopers responded to the call at 8:55 p.m. after the bus collided with an Aetna Bridge Company truck.

According to the RISP investigation, the Aetna Bridge truck moved from the center median in front of the bus on its way to the breakdown lane.

The bus driver swerved to the left and struck the arrow board that was being towed by the Aetna Bridge truck.

The material was dislodged from the truck from the collision.

The bus driver, four students and three occupants of the truck were taken to Kent County Hospital with minor injuries.

The truck driver was cited for a right of way violation.
