State Police make arrest after fatal crash in Cranston

CRANSTON, R.I. (WLNE) — Rhode Island State Police said an arrest was made in connection with a fatal crash on Route 295 South in Cranston that occurred on Nov. 26.

43-year-old Juan Archila was charged with driving to endanger – death resulting.

Police said that the crash occurred around 3:45 p.m. where a vehicle was forced off the road by another vehicle and crashed into a tree.

The driver of the crashed vehicle, 23-year-old Casey Bassignani, was transported to the hospital where she was pronounced dead.

Archila was later located and taken into custody without incident.

Police said that he was held on $50,000 bail.
