State police sergeant defends Michael Proctor positive performance evaluation in Read testimony

DEDHAM, Mass. (WLNE) — Witness testimony is expected to continue Tuesday morning in the murder retrial of Karen Read.

The Massachusetts State Police sergeant who oversaw the initial stages of the investigation will not have to return to the court room.

On Monday, sergeant Yuri Bukhenik testified about his initial interview with Karen Read as he formed an opinion of the case.

He was also asked about his performance evaluations of trooper Michael Proctor who was his subordinate and was eventually fired following his work on Read’s case.

Bukhenik stood by solid performance reviews he gave Proctor, including one that credited him with having the “utmost professionalism.”
