Rhode Island State Police say that motorists have been abiding by a state wide driving ban that was implemented at midnight on Tuesday.
Prior to the parking ban, Colonel Stephen O’Donnell said there were 70 car accidents.
An additional 40 vehicles became disabled and had to be towed from state roadways.
260 vehicles were towed in local municipalities for violating local parking bans.
“We are not out of the woods yet,” warned O’Donnell. He reiterated that Rhode Islanders are prohibited from driving until the governor lifts the ban.
O’Donnell said that local DPW workers and DOT workers helped ensure that first responders and medical personnel were able to make it safely to work.
