State Trooper involved in vehicle crash

CRANSTON, RI_ The Rhode Island State Police are investigating a motor vehicle crash which involved a State Trooper and cruiser.
On March 20, Trooper Nicholas Martin was traveling South in the right lane of Route 295. When he tried to move over to the left lane, a vehicle suddenly began to break hard causing the trooper to swerve and strike the snow covered left shoulder at 7:23 pm.
The Trooper lost control of the cruiser and hit the brush and small trees along the base of the rock ledge.
Trooper Martin was cared for at Rhode Island Hospital and released.
Colonel Steven G. O’Donnell said “The Safety of our Troopers is our number one priority. By wearing his seat belt, Trooper Martin set the example of and avoided serious injury.”
