EASTON, Mass. (WLNE) — A junior at Stonehill College is reportedly “battling a severe health crisis” after a bicycle accident in Spain.

According to a GoFundMe page, Lauren Rauseo was placed into a medically induced coma after the accident and is in “critical, but stable, condition.”

The fundraiser also says that Rauseo, who is an English and communications major, cannot be transferred back to Boston by med flight until her condition is less severe.

Money raised by the GoFundMe will reportedly go to costs associated with Rauseo’s medical care, including the med flight her for from Spain to Boston, as well as the costs for her parents to be in Spain with her including hospital accommodations and meals.

The college says that Rauseo received the Benjamin A. Gilman International Scholarship to fund her study abroad trip to France for the spring semester.

“Every contribution, no matter how big or small, will make a difference in Lauren’s fight for survival,” Ryan Desmarais, the organizer of the fundraiser, says on the GoFundMe page. “Your generosity will help alleviate the financial burden on her family, allowing them to focus on what truly matters.”
