Street closed in Johnston after 2 pedestrians hit

JOHNSTON, R.I. (WLNE) — Plainfield Street in Johnston was temporarily shut down by police and fire personnel on Wednesday.

Police said that a 68-year-old male and a 66-year-old female were crossing Plainfield Street when they were struck.

The male sustained serious injuries, and both victims were transported to the hospital.

The driver remained on scene and cooperated with police.

A preliminary investigation found that sun glare may have contributed to the incident.
