Street dedicated to late State Senator Maryellen Goodwin

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — A street was dedicated to the late Senate Majority Whip Maryellen Goodwin on Saturday.
Maryellen Goodwin Memorial Way is located along Orms Street.
The Providence City Council said the dedication was a way to “honor the life, work, and legacy of the late senator.”

Goodwin was first elected to the Senate in 1986, she was the second-longest-serving member of the chamber.
Goodwin died in April after a prolonged battle with colon cancer.
