Streets closed due to flooding across Rhode Island
PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — Several streets were closed due to flooding across Rhode Island on Saturday evening.
City officials said the following areas were temporarily closed in Providence:
- Branch Avenue at Route 146
- 300 block of Charles Street
Ann & Hope Way and Abbott Street in Cumberland were also closed due to flood waters.
Smithfield Avenue from Woodland Street to Grandview Avenue in Lincoln was considered impassable as well.
Valley Street at Helme Street, Magnolia Street and Pilsudski Street, and Pavilion Avenue at Eddy Street in Providence were also closed but all reopened after water receded.
Officials reminded operators to never drive around barriers and to seek alternate routes.
