Strong showing of spectators at 128th Boston Marathon

BOSTON, Mass. (WLNE) — Marathon Monday is finally here, and many of runners have already crossed the finish line.

Others are there to watch and simply take in the day with all it has to offer.

“I got to see the first person cross,” Noah Raquino from Honolulu, Hawaii. “It was really cool. People were cheering, bells were ringing, it was super fun to watch.”

Many spectators said Monday was their first time attending the Boston Marathon.

“It was exciting to watch people come across the finish line,” said Leah Poole of Dorchester. “They were much faster than I expected, so it was really cool.”

Whether you know a runner or not, the spirit is always welcome.

“It is a great sunny day today,” said Amanda Borsa from Danvers, Mass. “So being here with all of my best friends and seeing these runners has been a surreal experience.”

Fans from all around the world supported their loved ones.

“This is my first time, and my father is running the marathon,” said Chang Min Kwak of South Korea. “He has been preparing for 10 years to race this marathon, so we came here to cheer on my father. He is racing right now and we are waiting for him.”
