Student speaks about her life in quarantine

This quarantine is following the coronavirus outbreak in Italy

NORTH PROVIDENCE, R.I (WLNE) – A sophomore at the University of New Haven hasn’t left her father’s home since last Tuesday after her study abroad trip was cut short because of the coronavirus outbreak.

Emma Dombrowski arrived in a small town outside Florence in January and was scheduled to stay there until May, but university officials ordered all students out last week after Italy reported more than 10,000 cases of the infection and more than 600 deaths.

Dombrowski mentioned how empty Venice, Rome, and Florence have been since the outbreak.

Since arriving back home, Dombrowski has been staying with her father in North Providence, where she was advised to self-quarantine.

As of right now, she has no symptoms.

“Both my dad and I are taking our temperature three times a day, watching what we are eating, washing our hands and steering clear of people, ordering food from stop and shop and getting it delivered,” Dombrowski said.

“You see the situation in Italy now and it’s completely shut down, and I know my parents are happy I’m back and I’m glad I’m here. It’s better to be safe than sorry, better health care.”
